Cultural Change Workshop|

Intro to the KCOE System

Purpose: The purpose of this two-day Cultural Change Workshop is to introduce attendees to the first phase of the KCOE System of Operational Excellence: Engaging People, Cultural Change.

Who should come?  If you’re a leader (top level or middle management) that understands culture is the key to success for both your continuous improvement efforts and business as a whole, AND you want to learn KCOE’s cultural change model and system, this event is for you.

What will you learn?  During this workshop you will learn cultural change tools that will help you and your team build a continuous improvement framework to sustain results.  Another ways to think about it: you need to build a foundation on which your lean system can work.  Our framework is that foundation.

Topics of Cultural Change Workshop include:

1. Steering Committee Development: The Start of Cultural Change

If your organization understands that cultural change is key to continuous improvement, you must have a steering committee to coach and lead your continuous improvement efforts in a systematic way.  Here is what you will learn:

a. Defining the responsibilities of leadership concerning continuous improvement
b. Aligning leadership on common goals and objectives
c. Master planning for improvement

2. Balanced Scorecard for Cultural Change

One aligning tool for the steering committee is the balanced scorecard.  The balanced scorecard is a visualization of your annual targets, but it also forces the convergence of “top-three-problem-thinking” with “problem solving” to address the gaps between your current performance and the targets.  Here is what you will learn:

a. Goal Setting
b. Metric Selection based on World-Class Priorities
c. Aligning around and PDCA of Top problems

3. Problem Solving for Cultural Change

As you begin to learn and cascade a systematic approach continuous improvement you must teach / coach problem solving.  All too often,  leaders coach problem solving to solve large scale problems.  In order to solve large scale problems, you need to develop a system where everyone recognizes and attempts simple problem solving.  (Problems are blessings versus I sweep problems under the rug).  Here is what you will learn:

a. Making problem solving a part of daily living
b. Coaching and managing problem solving sheets
c. Selecting the Right Problems

3. Foundations for Continuous Improvement and Cultural Change

As you build upon your continuous improvement system, you must remember the foundations for continuous improvement.  These foundations will help your efforts to become both stable and lasting.  Learn how to make the foundations a part of your daily business operations:

a. Plan, Do, Check, Act
b. Visual Management
c. Roles and Responsibilities

4. Improving for Cultural Change

Now that your steering committee is aligned and understands KCOE’s System of Cultural Change – where should you start?  During this session you will learn about pilot halls, how 5S+1 is a cultural change tool, and cascading the OE safety system throughout your organization to develop a culture of safety first.  The topics include:

a. Pilot Hall
b. 5S Workplace Organization
c. Safety System
